Innovative Solutions for Every Connection
Geetansh Cables & Conductors Pvt. Ltd.
(An ISO 9001: 2015 Certified Company)
INTRODUCTION
Geetansh Cables’ Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC) a novel idea for Over Head Power distribution. Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC) is a very innovative concept for overhead power distribution as compared to the conventional bare conductor overhead distribution system. It is being designed, manufactured & tested conforming to IS. 14255 & other international specifications.
ABC provides higher safety and reliability, lower power losses and ultimate system economy by reducing installation, maintenance and operative cost. This system is ideal for rural distribution and specially attractive for installation in difficult terrains such as hilly areas, forest areas, coastal areas etc.
Aerial Bunched Cables is also considered to be the best choice for power distribution congested urban areas with narrow lanes and by – lanes. In developing urban complex, Aerial Bunched Cables is the better choice because of flexibility for rerouting as demanded by changes in urban development plan.

Our cables and conductors don’t merely transmit electricity; they connect lives and ideas.
ADVANTAGES
- Less fault rate on account of good protection against line and ground faults by high winding falling trees or birds specially in hilly areas and forests.
- High insulation resistance to earth in all seasons.
- Multiplexer circuits of power and telephone cables could be in the same set of poles.
- Better adaptability to laid besides with existing overhead bare conductor system without any interference.
- High capacitance and low inductance leading to low impedance of lines.
- Longer spans and longer distance lines are possible with better system stability.
- AB cables are much safer than bare conductors.
- It can be laid in dense vegetation and forest areas.
- Overall lines cost is reduced.
- Maintenance is very convenient.
- Very difficult to tap the AB cables, thus reducing theft which leads to lower distribution losses.
APPLICATION
- In electricity theft prone areas.
- As replacement of bare lines in rural are & narrow street with limited space.
- As replacement of bare lines where reliabilities of support is of prime importance.
- In hilly terrain here cost of erection of overhead lines or underground cable becomes very high.
- As reinforcement of existing system with increase in voltage/current carrying capacity.
- As replacement of bare lines where reliabilities of support is of prime importance.
- For temporary supplies.
MACHINERY USED IN AB CABLE

RBD (Rod Breakdown Machine)
The rod breakdown machine is one of the most important facilities in the plant. It is the evaluation point of the revenue of the cable factory. This process requires heavier equipment because the rods need to be kept straight, unlike wires that can be coiled. The workpiece is fed into a die and pulled by a carriage, increasing its length and reducing its cross-section. After drawing, the rod is cut into sections.
The advantages of wire and rod drawing of other applications are: Good surface finishing. Adaptability to mass production. Close dimensional control.

Tubular Machine
The purpose of the tubular stranding machine is to obtain cables of braided wires, starting from the individual coils with single conductor diameter up to 4 mm. The line consists of two groups: a 6-coil tubular and a 12-coil tubular.
Stranding is the process of bundling single wires to form a larger conductor. It is typically used to produce cables that need to be both flexible and strong, like automotive cables.
Stranded wire conductors are preferred for: Conductor flexibility is much greater in stranded conductors, making them easier to install. Flex life is longer compared to solid conductors. Stranded conductors can endure more vibration and bending before reaching the breaking point.
The advantages of wire and rod drawing of other applications are: Good surface finishing. Adaptability to mass production. Close dimensional control.

Extruder Machine
Extruders are used to produce long continuous products such as tubing, tire treads, and wire coverings. They are also used to produce various profiles that can later be cut to length. Multiroll calenders are used to make wide sheeting.
Cable Extruder here refers to the machinery that is used in the process of cable extrusion. The process of extrusion refers to the deformation of a material.
Crosshead extrusion process is widely used to coat wires and cables with a polymer-based insulation. The basic procedure includes pulling of the wire or cable to be coated at a uniform rate by a… crosshead die, where it is covered with the molten plastic or hot rubber compound. And Wire and Cable Extrusion is the process of converting plastic raw materials into a continuous profile, providing protection against external damage and physical wear. Different processes exist depending the different compounds requested by the market.

Laying Machine
Cable Laying Machine which are effectively used as construction tools for erecting electric circuits of high pressure, over head electric transmission and laying under ground electrical cables. This machine is suitable for heavy-lifting and dragging needed for wire erection.
Remember to always wear protective clothing when handling cable and wire.
There is always the potential for sparking or other electrical risks. Sport non-conductive gloves and protect your eyes with proper safety eyewear. Flame-retardant clothes are a good investment for those who maintain cable and wiring frequently.

STRINGING
No difficulty is envisaged during stringing of ABC in the conventional method but care shall be taken that insulated conductors do not get damaged during installation. Dragging the ABC on the ground is to be avoided. Tension to be applied during stringing shall be 25% of the breaking load of the messenger wires. This will allow line to have sag with specified limit of 1.5% of the span at the lowest ambient temperature.

JOINTING
While mid-span jointing permissible for L T ABC system by conventional technique, our recommendation will be to draw the line in such a way as to bring the joints at the supports. Mid-span jointing is not at all recommended in the case of HT lines our recommendation is for outdoor type HV terminations only. Under unavoidable circumstances, line tapping at the support points may be allowed through suitably designed clamp connectors/PG clamps. The semi-conducting screen continuity shall be maintained at all joints as far as possible to avoid fluctuations during system disturbances. The 3-phase screens may be shorted and earthed through suitable non-linear surge arrestor. Attempting to make a tap off from power conductors in the region where catenary is under tension is not recommended.
RELIABILITY, SAFETY AND FLEXIBILITY
ABC Cables are highly reliable and insulation has been developed to with-stand heat, cold and intense sunlight.
Disturbance and faults occur five to ten times more often in open wire lines than in ABC lines. There is no risk in touching the live cable and the insulation reduces the number of short circuits and over-voltages in overhead cables during thunder-stones.
Few hardware accessories are needed as each one can be used with many different sizes of cable. This makes installation and storage easier Streets can easily be get lit at little extra cost by using the ABC cables that have an extra conductor for lighting.
The cable can be supplied with one or two insulated conductors for street lighting. The hardware and accessories for AB cables are made by various reputed manufacturer and is easily available in India. They are similar to the standard hardware available for Bare conductor overhead distribution lines.
